With martial arts and technology, she became an icon and source of inspiration for many to pursue your dreams no matter the obstacles. She embodies her motto: “He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!”

A New Start of Dreams & Challenges

Came to the United States to White River Junction, Vermont with only $300.00, and she had to care for her family.

Facing discrimination for being Asian and a woman, she worked two jobs pumping gas and as a janitor at Howard Johnson hotel, and pursued her desire to teach martial arts, eventually starting her own school.

Born a Girl, Told She was a Curse

Because she was the firstborn, born on the Lunar New Year, and was a girl, she was called a curse. At 5 years old she was abandoned during the Korean War. Three years later, she stumbled upon her uncles training martial arts.

Faced with an insurmountable challenge, she embarked on a journey to defy social & cultural norms to learn martial arts.
